Message Ok, I was only reporting that data as I recalled it, using the only techniques that I *bold* have available. On 10/26/02, I went to Sacramento Raceway, and ran a best 13.8@106mph with a shabby 2.4x 60'..., along with a 13.9 and a 14.0 against CaptZap...

This was before the DP install, as they were just in design towards the end of last year. In November, design was complete, and we dyno'd my car@269RWHP on a Mustang dynojet locally here, 65 degrees F with 12psi backpressure in the system. Maybe it is low, but we got relative results for our future testing. G-tech acceleration (again, using the tools I have handy) was a best 5.2s, granted there are other factors that can and DO attribute to all of this like you said. I've gotten hated on by G-tech non-believers many times in the past, but I use it only as a relative technique to track changes in my set-up, similar to when others dyno time and time again... so be it... my boost to spool was also documented on here, with average RPM dropping by about 700 in gears 3 through 5 to reach peak boost (15ish psi).

When the DPs were completed and installed over December of last year, the dyno produced 295RWHP on the same Mustang dyno, 63 degrees F, with no other changes otherwise (well, we are talking full 3" exhaust, cats and pre-cats removed as also). Same g-tech on the same stretch of road yielded a best 0-60 of 4.5x seconds on street tires. A recent trip again to Sac Raceway (9/6/03, timeslip in my hand) yielded a best
12.8@111mph with a 60' of 2.001. So yes, 0.4 of that 1 second drop can be attributed to launch.

All of this 0-60 and 1/4 talk is bullshit anyway. I only went through all of it b/c I think that's how ppl generally rate the quality of an upgrade. The real test was at the track, coming out of turns, and it was incredible. This is the data that CAN'T be measured (unless we time the laps which I don't), but watching my exit speed or at the end of the straightaways, I noticed a vast improvement.

Granted, I don't know how my car would perform with 2.5" piping, however, I have done "roll-ons" with another Z with similar mods with 2.5" piping... and from a low RPM start, I walked him over 4 car lengths in fourth gear.

I certainly can't say 3" is better, as I have read, searched, and listened to Greg's info and others on here that preach 2.5". I can say, however, that 3" works, and the measured backpressure was 0psi after the install. "Exhaust scaveging" comes to mind, and I understand those arguments also. It's one of those things, from a fluid dynamic point of view, that is hard to prove, as no one will probably ever install 2.5", test, uninstall, then install 3" on the same day etc., for an honest comparison. Until that day, I'll summarize it this way:

-READ MAXIMUM BOOST
-GET RID OF STOCK DOWNPIPES
-BUY DIVORCED PIPES OF YOUR CHOICE
-ENJOY THE RIDE

On that note, I'm going out to play... :)
